Can I save for my child?

Modified on Wed, 29 Oct at 8:21 PM

The Littlebit app is intended exclusively for adult users (18+) who have undergone identity verification and meet the legal requirements for using financial services.

Littlebit does not allow the creation of separate children’s accounts or savings accounts in a child’s name. The reason is that savings are made in Bitcoin, an asset considered risky from a legal perspective. Therefore, it is not legally possible for a person under the age of 18 to own an account.

However, you can save for your children indirectly through your own account in the Littlebit app. In practice, there are two options:

1. Save based on your own card spending and donate the saved Bitcoin from your own resources to your child.

  • The Littlebit account is held in your name as a verified user.

  • The funds saved come from your bank account and your payment card.

  • You decide how to use the saved Bitcoin (for example, you can transfer it to your child over time).

2. Save from a bank account in your name, buy Bitcoin with your own card, and set up a debit card for your child linked to your bank account.

  • The Littlebit account is still held in your name as a verified user.
  • The app tracks payments made with your child’s debit card linked to your account.
  • When the saved amount exceeds CZK 350, Bitcoin is purchased automatically using your card.
  • You decide what to do with the saved Bitcoin (for example, transfer it to your child later).
  • It is important that the Littlebit account, the linked bank account, and the payment card used to purchase Bitcoin all belong to an adult who has undergone identity verification in the app.

From the app’s perspective, this is your personal savings account, which you can later give to your children when you see fit.
