Can I Save for My Child?

Modified on Sun, 1 Mar at 4:55 PM

The Littlebit app is intended exclusively for adult users (18+) who have completed identity verification and meet the legal requirements for using financial services.

Littlebit does not allow the creation of separate children’s accounts or savings accounts held in a child’s name. This is because savings are invested in Bitcoin, which is considered a legally regulated and risk-bearing asset. For this reason, an account cannot be owned by a person under the age of 18.

However, you can save for your child indirectly through your own Littlebit account. In practice, there are two possible approaches:

1. Save based on your own card spending and later transfer the Bitcoin to your child.

  • The Littlebit account is held in your name as a verified user.

  • The saved funds come from your bank account and your payment card.

  • You decide how to use the accumulated Bitcoin (for example, transferring it to your child in the future).

2. Save from your bank account while your child uses an additional card linked to it.

  • The Littlebit account remains in your name as the verified user.
  • The app tracks payments made with an additional card (e.g., a supplementary or authorised card) linked to your bank account.
  • Once the accumulated amount exceeds CZK 350, Bitcoin is automatically purchased using your primary payment card
  • You decide how and when to use the accumulated Bitcoin (for example, transferring it to your child later).
  • It is essential that the Littlebit account, the connected bank account, and the payment card used for Bitcoin purchases all belong to an adult who has completed identity verification in the app.

From the app’s perspective, this is your personal savings, which you may later choose to give to your child at your discretion.
