How Does Saving with Littlebit Work?

Modified on Wed, 1 Jul at 12:41 PM

Saving runs completely on autopilot. The app securely connects to your bank account and payment card, tracks your card payments, and sets aside your set percentage from each of them.

The whole process has 3 simple steps:

  1. Card payment: You pay as usual. The app waits for your bank to settle the payment (usually 1–5 business days) and then calculates your chosen percentage from it (e.g., 5%).
  2. Virtual piggy bank: These small amounts gradually add up in the app. In this stage, the money still remains on your bank account.
  3. Automatic saving: As soon as the virtual amount exceeds the 350 CZK milestone, the app automatically deducts the money from your card and transfers it to your savings. You will see everything immediately in the Savings tab.

Real-life example: You have your savings set to 5%. You buy shoes for 2,000 CZK. After settlement, the app calculates 5% (= 100 CZK) and adds it to the virtual piggy bank. As soon as you accumulate at least 350 CZK this way, the automatic saving takes place.

Are there any limits or restrictions?

Littlebit's goal is to help you save long-term and in small amounts. To make it work smoothly, the app has two built-in rules:

  • The maximum amount from one payment is 500 CZK. If your set percentage from a large purchase would amount to more than 500 CZK, we will set aside this maximum amount.
  • At least 350 CZK is needed for saving. Money is not withdrawn from your account in single CZK units. It waits until at least 350 CZK accumulates in the piggy bank - the so-called saving milestone.

Can I change my savings settings along the way?

Of course, you are in full control of your savings and can adjust them anytime directly in the app. You can:

  • Change the percentage set aside from payments.
  • Pause your savings or reactivate them.
  • Add, change, or remove bank accounts that the app tracks.

The Littlebit app clearly informs you about your saving progress and every completed saving transfer. Thanks to this, you always have an overview of the saved amount and the current value of your savings.

If you feel that the amounts are not being set aside, remember that it can take the bank 1 to 5 business days to settle payments – the app doesn't know about them until then. However, if everything is settled and the payments are still not being included in your savings, write to us via the form below and we will be happy to check it with you.
